How Judging Works
Our grading system is designed for fairness and consistency. While Memorization and Tajwīd form the core, elements like vocal performance and confidence are also considered to identify the most distinguished reciters.
Competition Outcome Disclaimer
Judges are expected to remain impartial, and all competition outcomes are final. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not proceed with registration.
Entry Screening
Memorization Division only
Screening Focus
The entry screening is a short assessment designed to confirm readiness for the preliminary round. The focus is on memorization accuracy, with less emphasis on Tajwīd or vocal performance at this stage. Participants will be asked a few questions from across different Ajzāʾ, reciting a few lines to confirm their memorization.
- Memorization only — Tajwīd errors are not the primary focus
- Judges will select a few lines from different Ajzāʾ
- Ensures participant readiness for preliminary round
- Multiple corrections or inability to continue recitation when asked will result in disqualification

Judges' Notes
Judges typically do not notify participants of minor Tajwīd mistakes during recitation.
Final scores between participants are often very close, sometimes differing by fractions of a point.
Results reflect performance on the day and are not an assessment of one's overall Qur'an mastery.
The primary goal is personal growth and strengthening one's connection with the Qur'an.
