1. Introduction and Acceptance

Welcome to the Imam Shāṭibī International Qur'an Competition ("we," "us," or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply to our website (imamshatibi.org), our registration and competition portal, and our events (collectively, the "Services").

By using the Services or registering for the competition, you agree to these Terms, the official Rules and Integrity Policy, and the competition guidelines published on our website and in the portal. Participation is voluntary. If you do not accept these Terms, do not register or use the Services.

2. Registration and Accounts

a. Parental Consent: If a participant is under the age of 18, registration must be completed by a parent or legal guardian. By creating an account, the parent or guardian represents that they have the authority to consent on behalf of the participant and accepts these Terms for them.
b. Accurate Information: You agree to provide accurate and complete information and documents, and to keep them up to date. False or misleading information may lead to disqualification.
c. Eligibility: We decide eligibility under the published rules, may ask for additional documents, and may decline or cancel a registration that does not meet them.
d. Account Responsibility: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account information and for all activities that occur under your account.
e. Lawful Purpose: You agree to use our Services only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.

3. Fees and Donations

a. Registration Fee: The registration fee is charged per competitor and is non-refundable, including after a withdrawal, a missed round, or a disqualification.
b. Donations: Donations are voluntary and non-refundable. If you believe a donation was made in error, contact us.

4. Competition Rules and Decisions

a. Rules: You agree to follow the competition rules, schedules and instructions published on our website and in the portal, and the Competition Integrity Policy. We may change rules, formats, dates, categories and awards when needed, and will post changes on our website or in the portal.
b. Final Decisions: All decisions of the judges and competition officials regarding eligibility, scoring, advancement, results, integrity matters, and awards are final and binding and are not subject to appeal.
c. Conduct: Competitors, parents, teachers and guests must treat judges, staff, volunteers and other participants with respect, online and in person. We may warn, disqualify, remove from an event, or decline future registrations of anyone whose conduct is abusive, disruptive, dishonest, or harmful to the competition.
d. Confidentiality: Judging deliberations, other competitors' scores and records, and internal discussions are confidential and are not shared.

5. Feedback

We welcome comments, suggestions, questions, concerns, and complaints about the competition and the Services ("Feedback"), which may be submitted through our contact page. We review Feedback at our discretion and may use it to improve the competition without obligation or compensation to you. Submitting Feedback does not create any obligation on our part to respond, to respond within a particular period, to take any action, or to disclose information about our internal operations, deliberations, or decisions.

6. Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Policy governs the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information. By using our Services, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Recordings, Photography and Filming

Virtual rounds are recorded. Our events, including the competition, may be filmed, photographed, and livestreamed. Recordings, photos, names, cities, and results may be used in announcements, livestreams, our website and social media, and promotional and archival materials, without compensation. Your attendance or participation constitutes consent to be recorded, filmed, or photographed. If you have a specific concern, please contact us before the event.

8. Awards and Prizes

a. General: Awards are described on the Awards Page and are given only to eligible winners who meet every requirement. Awards must be claimed in person, are non-transferable, and have no cash alternative unless we decide otherwise. The make, model, color, or features of a vehicle award may differ from any display.

b. Taxes and Costs: Winners are responsible for any taxes, fees, and costs that come with a prize, such as vehicle title, registration, and insurance, and may be asked to provide information required for tax reporting before a prize is given.

c. Umrah Eligibility and Conditions: First-place winners may be eligible for an Umrah trip prize. Eligibility is strictly contingent upon meeting all requirements on the Awards Page. The Umrah prize is non-transferable, has no cash value, and will not be substituted with any alternative compensation. The prize will be forfeited entirely if a winner fails to meet all documentation requirements (such as possessing a valid passport and obtaining necessary visas) or is unable to travel during the designated group travel period.

d. Travel Facilitation: To facilitate the Umrah trip, we will coordinate group travel arrangements, including flights, lodging, ground transportation, and tours. Eligible winners (and their legal guardians, if applicable) agree to provide necessary personal information, such as passport details, required for these bookings. This information will be shared only with authorized travel providers for the sole purpose of arranging the trip.

e. Limitation of Responsibility: While we coordinate travel logistics, we are not a travel agency and do not assume liability for issues beyond our direct control. This includes, but is not limited to, flight delays or cancellations, changes in itinerary by travel providers, or lost/damaged luggage. Furthermore, all travelers are responsible for their own personal conduct, health, safety, and for safeguarding their personal belongings during the trip. We are not responsible for personal matters such as illness, accidents, or any legal issues that may arise. While our representatives may provide assistance in an emergency, the organization holds no financial or legal liability for such events.

9. Intellectual Property

All content, materials, and intellectual property (including logos, text, graphics, photos, and recordings) on our Services are owned by or licensed to the Imam Shāṭibī International Qur'an Competition. You may not use, reproduce, or distribute any content from our Services without our prior written consent.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

Our Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any information on our Services.

11. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall we, our directors, volunteers, employees, or agents be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of your use of our Services or participation in our events. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the registration fee paid for the competitor concerned.

12. Termination

We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to terminate your access to the Services, including your competition registration, without notice, for any violation of these Terms, the official competition rules, or the Competition Integrity Policy.

13. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota. For purposes of this section, a "dispute" means a legal claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services, and does not include decisions made under section 4 or Feedback under section 5.

Before starting a legal claim, you must notify us in writing and give us a reasonable opportunity to resolve it informally. Any dispute that is not resolved informally shall be resolved only by final and binding arbitration in Minnesota. Any arbitration will take place on an individual basis; class actions are not permitted.

14. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Your continued use of our Services after any changes constitutes acceptance of those changes.

15. Text Messaging Program (SMS)

By registering for the Imam Shāṭibī Qur'an Competition, users may opt in to receive informational SMS messages related to the competition. These messages include registration status updates, required corrections, scheduling reminders, event dates and times, venue details, and competition logistics.
